Moved to a new address and want to update your new address in your LIC policy? No, you don’t have to visit any LIC branch to do so. Now you can change address in LIC policy online. Yes, now you change your new address easily through LIC online portal with few simple steps.
Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) is continuously updating its online portal and providing new tools for the convenience of its policyholders. If you are already registered on LIC’s Customer Portal, just log in and change the address in all your policy from the safety of your home. So let’s see how you can change address in LIC policy online.

Step 1: Log in to LIC Customer Portal
First login to your LIC e-Services account using your LIC customer portal ID and Password, you can go to the LIC customer portal using this link also. You will see a home screen or dashboard of your LIC Portal. Here you will see the number of policies on your name, your spouse’s name, your child’s policy, and your total policies (If added by you on the portal earlier). Next to your policies, you can see the various apps for you to use as per your need. See the screenshot below:
Step 2: Select Service Request for Address Change
Click on the Service Request(s) app given your LIC e-Service dashboard. When you select the Service Request(s) app you will see a new page with a drop-down list of service requests to register. To change address in LIC policy online, click on the drop-down Select Service Request. You will see 6 option to choose from and those are:
- Premium Service Registration
- Loan
- Address Change
- NEFT Registration
- Online ULIP fund switch
- PAN data registration
Since you want to change address in LIC policy online therefore choose Address Change service request from the drop-down list.
As soon as you select the Address Change service request you will see some term and conditions on your screen before choose policy to change the address. These conditions are given below
- change of Address will be accepted only for Inforce, Paid-Up policies.
- You are required to upload self-attested scanned copy of address proof
- The address Proof provided by you should be in your name
- The scanned copy of the address proof should be in jpeg, png, gif, bmp, tif or tiff format.
- The file size should not exceed 100KB and file name should not exceed 40 characters.
Check on the I agree box and a Proceed button will appear on the screen. Click on Proceed to go to next step.
Step 3: Select your policy for address change
After you click Proceed, you will see all your policies. Select any one to update the address. You can only change the address in your Inforce and Paid-up policies and not in Lapse without surrender value policies. You can change the address in any one policy at a time and you have to repeat the process every time for multiple policies.
Just select a policy to change the address in LIC online. As soon as you select the policy displayed on the screen, a Proceed button will appear on the screen. Click on the Proceed button for OTP validation.
Step 4: OTP validation for varification
When you click Proceed after selecting your policy for address change, a new screen will appear for verification through OTP.
You will receive a 6 digit OTP on your registered mobile number. Just enter the OTP on the designated place and Click on submit. If in any case, you do not receive OTP, press the Resend OTP button to resend the OTP on your mobile. Please note that every time you will receive the different OTP, so always enter the newest OTP to proceed further.
Step 5: Fill your new address details and upload the address proof
After the successful validation, you will be redirected to the page where you have to give your new address details. After filling the new address, choose the which document you want to upload as address proof. Only following address proof are currently accepted by LIC of India:
- Voter’s Identity card
- Driving License
- Passport
- Utility Bills (Pertaining to previous 2 months)
- Property/Municipal Tax Receipts
- Bank Account/Post Saving Account Statement
- Pension/family Pension Payment Orders (Govt/PSU)
- Letter of allotment of Accomodation (Govt./PSU/Scheduled Banks)
- Letter of Foreign Embassy or Mission in India
- Document Issued by Govt. Departments of foreign jurisdiction
After you fill your new address details and upload the self-attested scanned image of one of the address proof mentioned above, the Submit button will get active. Please note that your scanned file should be in allowed format only ie jpeg, png, gif, BMP, tif or tiff format, and file size should not be greater than 100KB, otherwise the portal will not allow you to proceed further.
Step 6: Reconfirm new address and submit the address change request
Reconfirm all the details related to your new address and check the 3 condition boxes. Please note that Address proof you have uploaded should be on your name only and must be self attested before scanning. You are giving consent to change address so fill address carefully. You are here authorizing the LIC of India to send any further communication to your new address.
After reconfirm and checking/accepting all the conditions, click on Submit button to submit your address change request. You will get a confirmation message after successful submission your address change service request as given below:
Step 7: Request Registered download confirmation PDF
After successful submission your request, you will see a success message on screen along with the Service Request Number. Your address will be changed within 3 working days of your service request. If you want, you can download the Service Request confirmation letter from Download PDF link giving on the success page. This letter will also be sent on your email ID for reference.
