How to get an Aadhaar PVC card?

Why the Aadhaar PVC card? Aadhaar Card, it has now become a generic word for KYC in India. It serves as an all in one document almost in every department. Whether you must submit an identity proof, here is the Aadhaar Card. Submit address proof? Here you go, Aadhaar Card!. Therefore, keeping the Aadhaar Card every time with you is always good. To keep in view of this UIDAI is now issuing Aadhaar PVC Card. It is more convenient to keep in wallets and durable.

What is an Aadhaar PVC Card?

Normally Aadhaar Card is sent as plastic-coated paper to the person. He or She then get it laminated and keep it with him/her to protect it from wear and tear. But now UADAI is giving you an option to get your Aadhaar card printed on a PVC card, just like your PAN card and driving license. So, let us see How you can get an Aadhaar PVC card directly from the UADAI?

1. Visit the UADAI website

To get your Aadhaar PVC card, first, you have to visit the UADAI website. On the homepage of the website, see the Get Aadhaar area just below the slider. Here you will find lots of options related to Aadhaar Card. Click on the option Order Aadhaar PVC Card. See the screenshot below:

2. Enter Aadhaar Number and get OTP

After you click the Order Aadhaar PVC Card option, a new window will open. Here you have to give your 12 digit Aadhaar number. Alternatively, you can enter your 16 digits Virtual Aadhaar ID (VID) or your 28 digits Aadhaar Enrollment ID (EID). After entering any one of the ID, enter the captcha and click on Send OTP. If your mobile number is still not registered then you have an option to get the OTP on non registered mobile also. Just check on the check box with the text My Mobile number is not registered and then Mention non-registered mobile number.

3. Generate and Enter OTP/TOPT

After clicking on the Send OTP button you will get an OTP on your registered mobile number. Similarly, you can enter TOTP. TOTP is Temporary One Time Password and it is generated by the mAadhaar app installed on your mobile. Use OTP or TOPT as per your convenience. After entering the OTP/TOTP, submit the form and you will be asked to pay the fee.

4. Make payment and confirm you request

On successful verification of the OTP/TOTP, you will be redirected to the payment gateway to pay the fee. UADAI is charging a nominal fee of Rs. 50 for the Aadhaar PVC card. Pay the fee using any of the payment methods. After the successful payment of the fee, you will get the payment receipt for your transaction. Keep the receipt for future reference until you will get your Aadhaar PVC card. After a few days, you will get your Aadhaar card on your doorsteps through the post.

How to check the status of your Aadhaar PVC Card?

If you have already applied for the Aadhaar PVC card and have not received it yet. You can check the status of your request. To check the status of your request, click here. Enter your 28 digits SRN number, your Aadhaar card number, and the captcha given on the page. SRN number is mentioned on your payment receipt. You will get the status of your Aadhaar PVC card on your screen. See the screenshot below

So, here we have shared all the information about how to get an Aadhaar PVC card. This is indeed a good initiative by UADAI as local vendors charge from Rs. 100 to 200 to create a PVC card. However, the basic flaw in getting a PVC card from a local vendor is that it’s merely a copy of your paper Aadhaar card. It does not have the security features as the original one has and the quality of the original one is far better than the printed one by local vendors.
